Frequently
Asked
Questions

Who do you work with?

I am willing to work with a variety of people and think that the free exploration call is essential to see if we will be a good fit to work together or if I should recommend a different practitioner with whom I think you would have a better fit. Until now I have specialized in working with people that have a unique and global identity including third culture kids (TCK), digital nomads, and expatriates but I am willing to work with anyone.

Can I be prescribed medication?

I cannot prescribe medication because I am a registered psychologist and not a psychiatrist.

How does confidentiality work?

Everything said in the therapeutic space is 100% confidential and will not leave that space unless it is seriously mentioned that you are going to harm yourself or others.

Will my data be protected?

Yes, I abide by European GDPR standards in every way and only rely on end to end encrypted methods of communication for video calls and written communication. Notes about sessions are kept under triple password protection on an encrypted drive without identifying information.

How much do your services cost?

I work on a sliding scale to allow my services to be more affordable to a greater amount of people. Please reach out to me to inquire about different price points depending on your economic situation. If you're unable to pay for services, we can discuss payment options and find something that works for both of us.

Can I claim your fees on my insurance?

Because I run a private practice which is not associated with a public healthcare system it is your responsibility to to share my invoices with your insurance and work to get a refund for the services you've already paid for.

Are sessions online or in person?

All sessions are conducted online.

Which languages can I do therapy in?

I am a native speaker of Spanish and English. I have working fluency in both Italian and Portuguese and would be happy to explore doing therapy in one of my non-native tongues or with multilingual people who prefer to switch between languages (that I speak) within sessions.

How often would we meet?

This is something that we can decide together. The most common format people choose is having a session once a week. My objective is for you to no longer need therapy therefore as our journey progresses we can discuss meeting with less frequency. I believe in keeping a relationship with my clients even after termination, therefore if something happens in their life where they want to go back to working together the therapeutic space continues and I would welcome them back

What is your cancelation policy?

I have a 24 hour cancelation policy therefore I still charge for sessions that are cancelled within 24 hours of their originally planned time.

What do I do if I have a formal complaint?

If any conflicts arise during our time working together I would invite you to bring up said topics with me to work out what may be going on. This can be done through writing or a call and I will respond within a week. If you feel as though your complaint was not properly addressed you can recur to the services the entity in the following link. https://www.degeschillencommissiezorg.nl
